Giving

What is ‘tithing’?

We’re convinced that all of us can experience God’s blessing.
That’s why we believe God established what’s called a ‘tithe’.

Literally meaning a ‘tenth’, a ‘tithe’ is giving 10% of all your income back to God.
God calls His people to give a ‘tithe’ back to him in worship, in honor and in thankfulness.

“Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in My Temple. If you do,” says the LORD, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put Me to the test!” - Malachi 3:10 NLT

Why should I give?

This is the only time in Scripture where God puts out that kind of challenge. God challenges His people to give so that He could bless them. God wants to blow you away with how much blessing He can bring to your life, but this kind of blessing is conditional. God’s love is unconditional but most of God’s promises are conditional. Your response determines what you experience from Him. God says: “if you bring the ‘tithe’, then I will do the amazing”. God says: “test me in this and I will prove to you how faithful I am.” And because there’s more to life than money, the blessings mentioned are not just financial. God will bless your life is so many ways when you put Him first in all areas. It’s true…Mosaic law was given as a unique covenant between God and the people of Israel. But you need to hear the core truth behind the command of tithing… The purpose of tithing is to teach you always to put God first in your lives. --Deuteronomy 14:23 TLB Even though you are no longer bound by the specific ‘tithing’ practices of Mosaic Law… God calls you to put Him first in all areas of your life.
